What makes a great internal auditor – and how can we help them thrive? This engaging seminar delves into the psychological traits that define successful internal auditors, how to identify them in recruitment, and how to foster their development and retention within audit teams.

Participants will also explore the psychological dynamics of audit interactions – including common emotional responses from auditees and how to manage them with empathy and professionalism. The goal: to reduce resistance, enhance collaboration, and build long-term trust.

The session includes practical self-assessment, tools for improving personal resilience, and strategies for applying psychological insights to support individual and team performance within the internal audit function.

Sanja Suman, CIA, CRMA, CFE, has over 25 years of professional experience, including 15+ years in internal auditing, with roles as Chief Audit Executive and advisor. She has expertise in risk management, fraud prevention, internal controls, and compliance, with a successful career in financial institutions and consulting across various industries. She holds an MSc in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance and multiple professional certifications (CIA, CRMA, CFE). Sanja is fluent in several languages and frequently speaks at international conferences on topics like corporate culture, fraud, and internal audit standards. She is an active Executive Board member of the Croatian Chapter of the IIA.
